Services at Old Stone Church
The following services have been scheduled at the First Universalist Parish, the Old Stone Church"on Route 103\North Street in Chester's historic Stone Village:
Feb. 7 - The Poetry of Life, led by Lay Speaker, Lynn Way, who will explore the ways our lives are influenced by poetry in its many forms.
Sunday services begin at 9:30 a.m. Childcare for infants and toddlers and programming for school-age children are provided.
In addition, a special, seasonal Circle Worship, led by Director of Religious Education, Madeline Bergstrom, will take place beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6 downstairs in the Parish Hall.
The related holidays of Imbolc, Brigid's Day, Candlemas, and Groundhog Day, all of which fall between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, will be celebrated in song, dance, and a craft activity. A potluck supper will follow at 6:15 p.m. Circle Worships are not just for families with children. All ages are welcome.

Astrophotography Techniques
The Southern Vermont Astronomy Group will hold its monthly meeting at the Whiting Library in Chester on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.
Astrophotographer Al Takeda will show some of his most recent high resolution astrophotos of deep space objects taken using his 7-inch, Hyperbolic Astrograph which produces wide field (3 degree) images of the night sky. He will discuss recent advances in his astrophotography techniques and methods and talk about new developments since his last visit to SoVerA.
Most of Al Takeda's imaging is done on the grounds of the MIT Haystack Observatory in Westford, MA. He also travels to Vermont on clear new moon weekends to avail himself of our beautiful skies. He has chased total solar eclipses as far as Hawaii, Egypt and China.
Grange Breakfast & Dance
Saturday, Feb. 6 is the Gasset Grange's monthly Community Breakfast from 8-10 a.m.. That same night is their Squaredance from 7-11 p.m. Everyone is welcome to both.
