By Tom Henecker firstname.lastname@example.org Finally, the regular season is about to begin! My chicken wing recipe has been dusted off, my Giants paraphernalia is prominently displayed, and the New York Football Giants flag-raising ceremony will take place in front of the Henecker household first thing Sunday morning, Sept. 9. Sure, the season kicks off Thursday with the Saints/Colts game, but I consider that the unofficial start of football season.
The picks already are coming in, and Im guessing well have a record field of pickers this year. Remember; get your picks in before the first game of the week gets under way. If you need to get the schedule from another source, thats OK. Throughout the season, there is a remote chance Ill screw up something with someones tally or standings, but dont fret Ill correct things as we go. In the unlikely event that I list a game wrong, Ill come up with an equitable solution for that as well. The bottom line is that this little contest is all about fun, even though Im determined to win it all!
This years Super Bowl will be historic: Manning vs. Manning. The defending champions, Indianapolis, likely will make a return trip to The Dance this year, despite the great moves the Patsies made in the off season. San Diego and Pittsburgh also will be contenders this year in the AFC.
Big Blue will silence the critics with a stellar season. And, really, there is no other stand out team in the NFC. McNabb will be lucky to finish the season for Philly which hes been unable to do the last two seasons; Romos success was a fluke last year with the Cowgirls I mean, the guy cant even hold onto a field goal snap; and Washington do they still have a football team?
Look for the Jets to upset the Patsies opening day, and, of course, Big Blue will humiliate Dallas on Sunday night. Week 1s game to miss the Detroit/Oakland Sleeper Bowl.
Good luck to everyone this season, and remember: DONT CALL ME ON SUNDAY! GO BIG BLUE!!!
