Responding to the rising need for food assistance, NOFA Vermont announced today an expansion of the Richmond-based Vermont Farm Share Program. The program, helping Vermonters in need purchase fresh food from their local farmers, will increase its service in Rutland, Windham, and Bennington counties this year, thanks to a grant from the Stratton Foundation.
"By supporting the Vermont Farm Share Program work in these 3 counties, the Stratton Foundation is directly contributing to the health of their communities' food, farms, and citizens," said Jean Hamilton, program coordinator with NOFA.
Vermont Farm Share participants are matched with CSA (community supported agriculture) farms in their area and receive a partially-subsidized share each week of local fruits and vegetables.
