PLATTSBURGH The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce and the Tech Valley Chamber Coalition have released the fifth annual edition of "Images of New York's Tech Valley," and it once again includes strong content from the North Country. The magazine is a marketing tool sponsored by the 24-member coalition, and is used by economic developers and others to promote the 19-county Tech Valley region, stretching from the Canadian border to the lower Hudson Valley with a focus on high-tech sectors such as nanotechnology, biotech and aerospace. The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce serves on the Tech Valley Steering Committee and has led the way to defining Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties as part of Tech Valley. "Each year, we have an opportunity to pitch new story ideas about the North Country to the editorial board," stated chamber president Garry F. Douglas. "And each year, we succeed in obtaining significant content about our area, thus extending our economic development marketing efforts through thousands of contacts and mailings done throughout the 19 counties." The new 2008 edition contains feature articles and references involving Plattsburgh International Airport, biotech in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, the Miner Institute, ORDA's Olympic sports venues, the new supply chain management program at Plattsburgh State University, Fort Ticonderoga, and the Meadowmount School of Music. The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce represents the North Country in Tech Valley as part of its regional economic development mission. The chamber continues to lead efforts to facilitate partnerships between technology interests in Tech Valley and Quebec as a way to enhance the North Country's high-tech connections to both, the north and south.
