North Country job seekers will have an opportunity to meet perspective new employers at the North Country Chamber of Commerce Job Fair.
North Country job seekers will have an opportunity to meet perspective new employers at the North Country Chamber of Commerce Job Fair from 4 to 8 p.m. May 15 at the West Side Ballroom, 253 New York Road.
The Job Fair is cosponsored by the North Country Chamber of Commerce, One WorkSource, North Country Workforce Investment Board, JSEC, Hometown Radio, Hall Communications, Plattsburgh-No. Country Service Corp. and WPTZ.
The fair will give local people the opportunity to find out what jobs are available in the region for all types of job-seekers.
“We have all types of businesses that are coming from media, manufacturing, CDL (commercial drivers license) truck drivers,” said Chamber Administrative Assistant Becky Manor.
There will be jobs for those with a variety of work and educational experience ranging from factory workers, truck drivers, to office jobs, media jobs and administration work.
The chamber holds two job fairs a year, one in September and one in May. Manor said there is usually 300 to 400 applicants who attend the free event.
Local companies will have representatives on hand to accept resumes, give out applications, set up interviews, and talk about career opportunities. There will be space set aside at the ballroom for employers to conduct interviews on the spot with attractive job candidates.
“There are a lot of job opportunities that will be available, people should come prepared and dressed for the job they want and dressed for success,” Manor said.
There will be about 30 businesses at the fair. Some of the businesses include Casella Waste, FedEx Ground/Home Delivery, Bombardier Transportation, Advocacy and Resource Center, ETS, AFLAC New York, Camoplast Rockland, Combined Insurance, Mole-Rite Plastics, Prevost/Nova Bus, Pine Harbour, U.S. Army, CVPH Medical Center, Manpower, Mountain Lake PBS, Verizon Wireless, United Healthcare Community Plan, Vermont Air National Guard, WPTZ-TV and more.
There are still tables available to interested business owners. Interested parties can call the North Country Chamber. Members and Associate Members can reserve a table for $275 and non-members can reserve a table for $375.
