JOHNSBURG On May 12, the North Creek Gore youth baseball team traveled to Warrensburg and lost a one run game to Galushas Construction 9-8. Gore was lead by Brandon Tyrel who was 2-for-3 with 4 RBI and Moses Mulvey 3-for-3 2 runs and 2 RBI. Also getting hits for Gore was Ethan Cooper, Nate Prouty and Andrew Sponable. On May 16, Ethan Cooper lead of the game with a inside the park home run as Gore had 22 hits in a 20-10 win over N.C. Rotary. Ethan added 2 single to his HR. Also with the bat Evan Slater hit an over the fence HR as he had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Aidan Connelly and Andrew Sponable were both 4-for-4 on the day. Moses Mulvey added 3 hits and 3 RBI, while Mark Cleveland had a double and a triple, Brandon Tyrel had a triple and Nate Prouty had a double. First year player John Pierson scored a run for the second game in a row with some great base running. I would like to thank Rotary pitcher Dillon Bradway for showing such great sportsmanship, after Evan hit his HR Dillon came over to our dugout and congratulated Evan on the hit. Its nice to see good sportsmanship is still alive in sports. So high fives to Dillon and his Rotary teammates. On May 21, Aidan Connelly took over on the pitching rubber after Gore's starting pitcher had to leave the the game after the 1st inning due to sickness, Aidan pitched 5 innings of shut out ball giving up only 3 hits a walk, while striking out 10 batters, as Gore beat N. C. Tigers 5-0. With the bat Gore was lead by Mark Cleveland who was 1-for-2 with a double and RBI. Ethan Cooper and Brandon Tyrel also added hits as all the pitchers pitched well for both teams. On May 23 Gore won their 3rd game in a row as they knocked off Haskell Bros/VFW of Warrensburg, who came into the game as the last team in the league without a loss. Bookend triples in the last inning lead Gore to a 14-13 come from behind win. With Gore down 13-9 in their last at bat, Brandon Tyrel lead off the bottom of the 6 inning with a triple, After a base on balls by EmmaLee Ellsworth and hits by Ethan Cooper,Nate Prouty, Evan Slater, Mark Cleveland and Aidan Connelly that set the stage for Andrew Sponable to end the game with a bases loaded triple. It was great to see the kids play with such confidence even after falling behind a very good team. This was a team win all the way around. With the bat Gore was lead by the following, Nate Prouty 3-for-3 double, Andrew Sponable 3-for-4 triple, Moses Mulvey 2-for-4 triple, Mark Clevland 2-for-3 2 doubles and Brandon Tryel 1-for-3 triple. Aidan Connelly and Ethan Cooper each added 2 hits. Gore is now 4 - 2 on the season.
