Police arrested a North Hudson man for allegedly stealing several pieces of furniture from a hotel Nov. 13.
Schroon Lake-based state police said Ernest R. Rice, 38, allegedly stole the furniture sometime before 9:47 a.m. Nov. 12 from the Blue Ridge Motel where he was staying.
Police said they later located Rice's pickup truck with all of the furniture in the back, but Rice was nowhere to be found. Police said they searched several camps, residences and sheds in an attempt to find him.
At about 9 a.m., police located Rice in his father's shed, officials reported.
Justice Jean Strothenke arraigned Rice in the Town of Schroon Court and remanded him to Essex County Jail.
A Hague man died after a motorcycle accident on Route 8 in Horicon Nov. 13, police said.
Charles R. Antonetti, 75, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in the hamlet of Brant Lake, according to state police. The crash happened shortly before 9 a.m.
He was headed west when the three-wheeled motorcycle he was driving veered off the road and hit two trees, police said.
Police said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
Police arrested a Ticonderoga man Nov. 12 after he allegedly broke into a home and assaulted an individual in front of a child.
The Ticonderoga Police Department said 33-year-old Brad A. May broke into a home on The Portage shortly before 7:10 p.m. The individual who lives there reportedly had an order of protection against May.
Police charged May with second-degree burglary, a felony.
They also charged him with third-degree assault, three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.
Justice James O'Bryan arraigned May in the town of Ticonderoga Court and remanded him to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
