TICONDEROGA Talk about pampered pets.
A group of children got together recently to treat their four-legged friends to a day of luxury pet style.
We recently received a phone call from a group of young girls who wanted to make a donation to our charity, explained Amy Reale of Angel Connection. What we found was a group of girls, ages 8-11, who gave up part of their summer vacation to organize and plan a fundraiser.
For the second year in a row, Adrianna and Summer Colley, Nina and Bella Singer and Amanda Whiteley put together an event to pamper pets.
The day began with an obstacle course, which included a hanging ring, a seesaw, weave poles and a bridge, Reale said. The course was designed to take the edge off even the most hyper of dogs.
The next step was a stop at Groomingdales Doggie Salon, she continued. Dogs were scheduled to a 20-minute session of hair brushing, paw washing and a nice finishing spray.
Gift bags were also given to furry friends, full of biscuits and homemade goodies.
The girls even made a special home visit to groom a very lucky cat.
The fundraiser included a small gift shop, which sold Frisbees, balls and assorted chew toys, Reale said. When the event was over, Adrianna, Summer, Nina, Bella and Amanda had raised a total of $152, which they presented to Angel Connection.
On behalf of myself, Angel Connection staff and volunteers, and the cats and dogs Angel Connection works to help, we sincerely thank them for their hard work. We would also like to thank the customers of Groomingdales, who helped make the whole event a huge success.
