Crown Point rallied to win the Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference baseball championship, beating Indian Lake/Long Lake, 10-9, May 23. The MVAC Northern Division champion Panthers got an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Mark Ashline reached on an error. Pinch runner Tony Rodriguez then advanced to second on a hit by Cody Wayman and to third and a bunt. He scored the game winner on a wild pitch. Adam Clark, Kevin Gadway and Mac Kiely each had two hits for Crown Point. Travis Tabor belted a home run and Nathan Tabor added two runs batted in. Ticonderoga 10, Moriah 1 Ticonderoga downed Moriah, 10-1, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 26. The Sentinels did not have a hit in the first inning, but managed to scored five runs on Moriah five errors, two walks and a hit batter. Krys Ross had an RBI single for Ti in a five-run sixth inning. Tyler Trombley plated Moriahs run with a sacrifice fly that drove in Ryan Mascarenas. Rich Larmore had two singles for Moriah. Tyler Bush picked up the pitching win going six innings, striking out eight. Ticonderoga 25, Lake Placid 4 Ticonderoga ripped Lake Placid, 25-4 in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 23. Tyler Bush had three hits, including a pair of home runs, to pace the Sentinels. Anthony Barnao also had three knocks, including a homer, for Ti. Matt Streeter added three hits for the winners. Crown Point 8. ELCS 0 Crown Point completed the regular season undefeated, beating Elizabethtown-Lewis, 8-0, in Mountain and valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 21. The Panthers are 12-0 in MVAC action and 15-0 overall. Nate Tabor hurled a two-hitter for the Panthers, striking out eight. Kevin Gadway had two hits and two runs batted in for the Panthers. Ticonderoga fourth Ticonderoga finished fourth in the Chip Cummings Baseball Classic in Plattsburgh May 24. The Sentinels lost in the opening round to South Burlington, Vt., 4-3. committing five errors that led to a pair of unearned runs. Hunter Denno was the tough-luck loser for Ti, scattering six hits and striking out seven. Krys Ross had an RBI single for Ticonderoga, which managed just six hits. The Sentinels lost to Rutland, Vt., 5-2, in the consolation game. Defense was again a problem for Ti, which made four more errors. Matt Streeter and Anthony Barnao allowed seven hits in a losing cause. Steve Lenhart had a pair of hits for the Sentinels. NAC 7, Moriah 6 Northern Adirondack edged Moriah, 7-6, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 27. Caleb Armstrong and Dave Mandy each had run-scoring hits for Moriah. Ticonderoga 14, AVCS 0 Ticonderoga blanked AuSable Valley, 14-0, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 27. Hunter Denno hurled six innings of three-hit ball, fanning seven, for the victory. Denno also had three hits. Todd Carr ripped a three-run homer and Tyler Bush added a solo blast for the Sentinels. Schroon Lake 9, Bolton 8 Schroon Lake edged Bolton, 9-8, in Mountain and valley Athletic Conference baseball play May 27. Casey Jarrell drove home George Egan with the winning run in the final inning. Jarrell had two hits on the day. Ethan Tyrrell gain the pitching win, working in relief.
