There will be a Boot Camp for Educators, Parents and Writers workshop on Sunday, May 2 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Rockingham Art and Museum Project at 7 Canal Street in Bellows Falls.
Although essential, writing remains elusive to many young students today. With everything from video games & TV culture to standardized testing getting in our way as teachers, it is frustrating to navigate the turbulent cultural waters that surround our youth and pull them under. Yet language, particularly the written word, remains the key to a student's sense of self and empowerment. How do we inspire them? Contrary to the way writing is usually taught, non-verbal and visual thinking are employed in Izzo's method the result of which is often a more enjoyable and creative writing experience.
By donation (suggested $30 or what you can afford), free for public school teachers, employees of Youth Services Inc. and youth workers participating in Voices Teen Radio.
All proceeds from this workshop will be used to support Voices Teen Radio 2010.
