CROWN POINT The 43rd annual Penfield Heritage Day Festival will take place on Sunday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Penfield Homestead Museum. The annual event, though officially beginning at 10am, will start with a church service at the Penfield church in Ironville. The service begins at 9:30am and will be hosted by the first Congressional Church of Crown Point. The festival offers a free admission to the Penfield Homestead Museum, a 10k road race with the La Chute Roadrunners, their famous Chicken BBQ, and a Craft and Flea Market, complete with craft demonstrations. The La Chute 10k race will start and finish at the Penfield Homestead Museum. Checkin is from 8:30am to 9:45am and there is a $5 entr_fee. The course is 10k of country roads, approximately half of which are dirt roads, and features a fast, downhill final stretch to the finish. Chicken BBQ tickets are on sale now at the museum for $9. The BBQ will be served from 1 2:30pm featuring delicious chicken accompanied by sides of baked potatoes, baked beans, rolls and corn.
