Poultney High School students are enjoyed several events for the autumn season. The students are also planning the school’s homecoming semi-formal dance Saturday, Oct. 15, 7-10 p.m. The cost is $10 per person or $15 per couple—it is open to grades 7-12.
Chuck Dominie, Poultney-Mettowee Conservation District watershed educator, presented and explained a watershed model to the 7th grade students in Mr. Adam's science class and Miss Paquette's informational text class.
Dominie described with details point and non-point pollution sources, the causes and impact of pollution in our area, shared a few specimens found in the Poultney River, and answered questions from the students. His presentation was part of an interdisciplinary collaboration among the core subjects in the middle level unit focusing on not only the Poultney River but also the connection between the rivers here and Lake Champlain.
Sophomores and juniors who would like to take the PSAT at PHS at 7:45 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 15 should sign up in the guidance office. The fee is $14. Juniors who get free or reduced lunch qualify for a fee waiver. This test is only offered once a year.
PICO ski pass applications are available in the guidance office. Applications can be handed in directly at PICO from Oct. 15 until Nov. 30. No passes will be issued after Nov. 30. There is a $39 cost associated with the ski pass program this year. Students who made Principal’s List and High Honors twice last year are eligible. Please pick up your application in the guidance office.
Seniors please complete and return the diploma name form to the guidance office by Tues., Oct. 18. L
The Loft 89 Youth Center at 89 Main Street in Fair Haven will hold a middle school Halloween Dance Friday, Oct. 28, 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $5; please see Mrs. Gallipo in the guidance office if you would like to purchase a ticket.
The Drama Club under the direction of English teacher and director Scott Holliman is gearing up for the comedy production of “30 Reasons Not To Be In a Play” by Alan Haehnel Nov. 18-19. The students have been sharing their excitement and enthusiasm as they rehearse.
