On Feb. 13, Kylie Quesnel returned home to discover her residence had been broken into the previous night. Vermont State Police Trooper Scribner responded to the residence and learned that a large amount of property had been stolen, to include jewelry, clothing, cosmetics, a checkbook, and other items. At the time, police had no leads. On Feb. 14, Pratt's Store in Bridport reported that Danielle Morin had attempted to cash a check from Quesnel's account at their store, but fled when the clerk attempted to contact Quesnel. Trooper Leise responded to Pratt's and took a statement. Based on an unrelated incident earlier in the week where Morin had attempted to cash a stolen check in Shoreham, Leise traveled to the First National Bank of Orwell in Shoreham. There, he learned Morin had unsuccessfully attempted to cash one of Quesnel's checks at the bank. He then went to the Shoreham Service Center, where he learned that Morin had attempted to sell a clerk some stolen jewelry. He also learned that Morin successfully cashed one of Quesnel's checks at Boise's Citgo in Bridport. Leise located Morin in Middlebury, and she was taken into custody after approximately $760 of Quesnel's property was found in her possession. It was learned that two more of Quesnel's checks were cashed at banks in Middlebury and Vergennes. Based on this information, Trooper Scribner obtained a search warrant for Morin's residence. More property belonging to Quesnel was located, but there is still a large amount unaccounted for. During the search it was discovered that Morin sold some of the stolen property on Feb. 13. Morin was arraigned on Feb. 14 for an unrelated burglary that Trooper Young investigated on Feb. 11. She was charged with Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling, Attempted Uttering a Forged Instrument, and Possession of a Stimulant Drug. She was lodged at the Southeast State Correctional Facility. T1C Cappetta also has False Pretense charges pending against Morin for an unrelated case where Morin fraudulently used someone's credit card to withdraw over $1,200 from an account on Feb. 12. Trooper Leise has charges pending against Morin for Possession of Stolen Property, Attempted Sale of Stolen Property, two counts of Attempted Uttering a Forged Instrument, and one count of Uttering a Forged Instrument. All charges from incidents on Feb. 14. Trooper Scribner has charges pending against Morin for Burglary and Grand Larceny on Feb. 12, Sale of Stolen Property on Feb. 13, and Possession of Stolen Property on Feb. 14. More charges may be forthcoming for Morin, as well as other accomplices. Anyone who has information regarding any of these incidents is asked to contact the Vermont State Police at 388-4919.
