On Sept. 20, at approximately 9:55 p.m. troopers from the New Haven Vermont State Police Barracks responded to a report of a fight in progress that was taking place at the Red Mill Restaurant located at the Basin Harbor Club in Ferrisburg.
Investigation of this incident revealed that the accused, Joseph Forziati, 48, of New Haven, and an unnamed male victim-both employees of the Basin Harbor Club-have a history of tensions and disagreements.
On the night of the incident, Forziati called the victim into the kitchen area where, based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, he attacked the victim with two black-handle butcher knives.
The victim had multiple cuts on his face and the left side of his head as well as a large laceration on the palm of his right hand and a deep cut to the tip of his right ring finger.
Forziati was taken into custody and transported to the VSP Barracks in New Haven. He was charged with aggravated assault and lodged at the Addison County Sheriff's Department for lack of bail.
