A homeowner in Saranac Lake has discovered the body of a man who went missing earlier this year.
55-year-old Gary Sklaryk was least scene Jan. 2 by family members at his home on Ampersand Avenue in Saranac Lake.
His body was found over the weekend by a homeowner on Keene Street, according to Saranac Lake Village Police Chief Bruce Nason.
Nason says Sklaryk's body was discovered at approximately 2:49 p.m. Sunday in the backyard of the residence, less than a mile from where he was last seen.
Warm temperatures and melting snow led to the discovery, Nason said.
Franklin County Coroner Ronald Keough removed the body from the scene late last night, following an investigation of the scene.
An autopsy has been scheduled and the investigation is considered ongoing.
