A Clarksville woman's life was claimed by Tropical Storm Irene this weekend when she was apparently swept into the Onesquethaw Creek.
Police say Sharon L. Stein, 68, was reported missing by her husband, Geoffrey Stein, just after noon on Sunday, Aug. 28. She was last seen loading belongings into the couple's vehicle as they prepared to evacuate their Slingerlands Avenue home, which is near the creek.
Stein's body was spotted in the Onesquethaw at 4:37 p.m. a short distance from the home and was recovered by the Onesquethaw Fire Department shortly thereafter. An autopsy is to be performed at Albany Medical Center, but authorities say the death “appears to be storm related.”
