One person was taken into custody following a street fight in Saranac Lake earlier this week.
Saranac Lake Village Police were called to the scene of a large fight on Bloomingdale Avenue involving a "group of people," according to Chief Bruce Nason. The incident was reported at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
After conducting an investigation at the scene, officers were able to locate and arrest 41-year-old Eric D. Ryan of Saranac Lake.
He was taken into custody at 1:55 a.m. Thursday and subsequently charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon - both are class-D felonies.
Reports indicate that Ryan struck a female victim in the head with a metal flashlight, causing physical injury.
The victim was transported to the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake for treatment.
Chief Nason said Thursday that Ryan is being held at the police station pending arraignment in village court.
The investigation is considered ongoing and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
