TICONDEROGA PRIDE of Ticonderoga, Inc. has scheduled a pair of community events.
PRIDE has organized a day for individuals to apply for a passport at the Hancock House at Moses Circle in Ticonderoga on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 1-5 p.m.
Joe Provoncha, Essex County clerk, and staff will be present to process passport applications. Individuals will need to bring a copy of an original birth certificate (no hospital certificates accepted) and proof of identity, such as a drivers license.
There are three fees involved: an Application Fee (age 15 and under $52 and age 16 and over $67), an Execution Fee (the amount is subject to federal regulation and may be $30), and a Photo Fee (two standard 2 x 2 photos at $8). People who choose to have photos taken elsewhere, should note that school photos are not acceptable and the background must be on plain white or light background. PRIDE will be present a lead-based paint workshop free of charge on Friday, Sept. 21, at 8 a.m. 4 p.m. at the Hancock House at Moses Circle in Ticonderoga.
The course will be presented by Environmental Education Associates, Inc. through the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal, and will cover how to identify the existence of lead-based paint, the dangers it presents, and the safe handling practices for lead-based paint hazards. The one-day workshop is especially designed for contractors, people working or living in homes built prior to 1978, and those planning to do renovations in their homes.
All contractors working on projects funded by the PRIDE of Ticonderoga HOME Program are required to complete this course as a minimum requirement.
