THURMAN - Milda Burns, local historian from North River, will present the program "Early Adirondack Peddlers," at 7 p.m. April 7 in the Thurman Town Hall.
The program is offered by the John Thurman Historical Society.
Burns has regaled audiences both locally and at the Adirondack Museum, with presentations on such topics as river drives, hunting guides, old hotels of the area, and graves of Civil War veterans. She's also served as a narrator on the Upper Hudson River Railroad.
She returns to Athol by popular demand, and will speak about such early door-to-door vendors as Jake Davis and Penny. The program begins at 7 p.m. and is free to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call Cindy Needham at 494-3215.
