CHESTERTOWN- Chelsea Law, a senior at North Warren High School, has been named Student of the Month by the Chestertown Rotary Club.
The daughter of Bridget Law of Brant Lake and Lance Law of Ballston Spa, Chelsea has excelled in the areas of academics, athletics, and science-related pursuits, according to school counselor Michael Therio and Chestertown Rotary Club official David Schlansker.
Therio said Bridget Law's accomplishments show not only her dedication to academic achievement, but how varied her talents are.
Chelsea is a hardworking student who has been recognized through various local academic awards - including Principal's List and Most Improved in Physics, and for garnering the Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity award. Her tendency to challenge herself has resulted in her looking forward to graduating with an Advanced Regents with Honors designation, Therio said.
Chelsea has played club soccer for a regional club team in Ballston Spa, and she enjoys playing the sport with friends in her free time. She can also be found working towards the regional Rube Goldberg science competitions. Also, she has served as a revision editor for the North Warren newspaper.
In her free time, Chelsea enjoys working with young children and babysits on a regular basis.
"This articulate, accomplished and friendly young woman is known for focusing on achieving her goals while treating all those in her midst with the greatest of respect," Therio said, noting Chelsea's aptitude to set and achieve goals and her outstanding work ethic.
Therio said her ability to balance the demands of challenging academics with many activities will undoubtedly serve her well in her upcoming studies in biology and perhaps pre-med at SUNY Albany this Fall.
"Chelsea provides an outstanding model of leadership, care and regard," Therio said. "We're proud of her representing North Warren."
