The Rutland Amateur Hockey Association (RAHA) Pee Wee "A" team (ages 11 and 12) won the Vermont State Pee Wee "A" Championship game in St. Albans last week. The double elimination tournament started on Feb. 13.
The RAHA team posted victories against Middlebury (12-1), Barre (5-0) and CSB (7-4) to move on to the championship game against CSB (6-5) to win.
In the championship game Feb. 19, Rutland was down 0-2 after the 1st period and then came on strong to take the lead 4-2 after the 2nd period.
CSB came back in the third to score 2 quick goals and Rutland answered back with 2 more goals to make it 6-4. With 3 minutes left in the 3rd period, CSB scored another goal to make it 6-5. Rutland managed to hold on to the one goal lead for the remainder of the game to emerge as the Vermont State champions.
The RAHA Pee Wee "A" team's record is 27-4-5 and they will represent the state of Vermont at the Tier II Regional Tournament in Burlington, March 6-8.
