Due to a successful Red Kettle Campaign, the Salvation Army's Service Unit committees in Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake and the surrounding areas have the funding necessary to help people struggling financially.
"The Salvation Army has been very fortunate to have very vibrant Red Kettle coordinators," said Rick Damore, field representative for Franklin County. "Through the efforts of such people as Jerry Richer in Tupper Lake and Chenelle Palyswiat in Saranac Lake, many members of the community came together to help raise funds for needy families and individuals."
"Now, with the economy in such upheaval, many people will reap the benefits of the hard work of many caring Red Kettle volunteers," said Damore.
Anyone needing assistance in Franklin County with food costs, utility bills, prescription costs and doctor visits can call Rick Damore at 1-800-836-7630 Ext. 372.
Damore also added both communities need more volunteers, especially in helping to enhance programs and services. People interested in volunteering, can go on-line to RedKettles.org and register on the volunteer form.
