TICONDEROGA - St. Mary's School will celebrate the opening of the St. Mary's Church basement as an art room for the school with an open house on Wednesday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m.
Joe Vilardo, architect, has completed a unit with fifth through eighth grade students at St. Mary's School, teaching them elements of architecture and design.
Highlights of the open house will be student architectural designs as well as a stairway mural of cathedrals organized by art teacher Lisa Adamson. The music portion will include students playing on recorders and chimes, taught by Judy Mildon.
An LCB grant from the Adirondack Arts in Education was secured to assist with the basement art room project.
Vilardo, Frank McCabe, Pete Crowningshield, Jeff Cook, Milt Chellis and Pete Wendell provided expertise and donations for the project.
All are welcome at the open house.
