SCHROON LAKE - The Towne Store in Schroon Lake will host "Art in the Attic" at the Local Artisan Cooperative Gallery Sunday, May 24, 6-8 p.m. Refreshments will be served during the evening.
Many of the artists will be on hand to debut their new work and welcome visitors through out the evening. New this year, will be a display of the art work from the Schroon Lake Central School students. The student artwork will remain on display throughout the following week.
"Last year's opening was so much fun and successful, we had about 150 visitors come into the gallery during the two-hour opening. We decided that an opening gala will be a great way to kick off the season of the gallery and debut the new artwork each year." stated Patti Mehm.
Art workshops will be conducted throughout the summer on Thursdays 6-8 p.m. beginning July 9. The line up of classes are being finalized and will include: Water Colors and Calligraphy taught by Anne Gregson as well as Basket Weaving and Jewelry Making.
"We offered an abbreviated workshop schedule last year, which proved to be very popular and most classes were full." Mehm said. "We are expanding the workshop offerings this summer with classes or programs each Thursday evening."
Advance registration is recommended as class space is limited.
People can go online at www.townestore.com to view the complete list of workshops and photos of the interior of Art in the Attic and the artwork displayed.
