SCHROON LAKE - Velma Gochie was recently named Senior Citizen of the Year for 2009 by members of the Schroon Lake Senior Citizens Club.
A dinner will be held in her honor at Drake's Restaurant June 3. She will also be a guest of honor in the Fourth of July parade to be held in Schroon Lake. The parade begins at 6 p.m.
Gochie said she didn't want to be nominated because she held the position in 2000. But, she does so much for the club, the members decided she deserved to be honored again.
