MIDDLEBURY Middleburys Exchange Street industrial area is the new home of a Sears Dealer Store. The store, owned by Kym and Mike Harrington of Leicester, will open Tuesday, Nov. 18. The 8,000 sq. ft. facility, which includes a 5,500 sq. ft. store and 7,500 sq. ft. stock area, will provide Addison County shoppers with a big selection of home appliances, electronics, lawn and garden supplies, exercise equipment, tools, mattresses, and much more. The Middlebury Sears, smaller than a traditional Sears department store, is modeled after a new family of Sears stores such as successful operations in Bennington, Milton and Barre, Vt. According to Mike Harrington, Middlebury officials were very helpful in getting the new store up and running. The site was originally approved for a hardware store, Harrington said, so many of the permits were already in place for us. Members of the Harrington family and several friends will provide the main workforce at the Middlebury Sears store. Its all in the family, Kym Harrington said. The Sears Dealer Store concept is one of the largest, most successful growth areas for Sears Holding Company. The new store represents a shift from large mall stores to smaller, easier access stores that are decidedly shopper friendly. Sears has sported nearly 900 dealer stores to date breaking all records and expectations. The new Middlebury store should find a ready customer base with pent-up demand to buy products close to home. Another bonus of the Middlebury Sears is its price match guarantee policy. Shoppers can compare prices at Sears competitor stores, get a Sears price match plus a 10 percent discount. Shoppers can also go online, using store-based computer terminals, and have Sears products delivered directly to the Exchange Street locale with no shipping charges added. Middlebury Sears store hours: Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
