ALBANY - With the state Senate now back in Republican hands, G.O.P. stalwart Sen. Betty Little of Queensbury will sit on one of the two most influential committees of the legislative body's upper house.
After speaking at a legislative breakfast Jan. 7 in Saranac Lake, Little confirmed that she has been appointed to the Senate Finance Committee. Any bill that involves spending money must pass the Finance Committee before reaching the floor. Legislators from the committees on Rules and Finance have influence over almost every item of legislation that moves through the Senate.
Also, as of Monday, Little was selected to chair the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism and Parks and Recreation, she said. With Little leading tourism, entities like the state Olympic Regional Development Authority could experience more secure funding.
