KEESEVILLE - Shipping packages is an inevitable part of the holidays and an important service for businesses year-round. Fortunately, there's a local outlet that has everything anyone might need for their shipping needs.
Arbro BizBox has been in operation for a little more than a year at 1881 Main St. in Keeseville, and owners Jim and George Armstrong say customers have openly expressed their appreciation.
"We've gotten a really positive response from the local community," said George. "They say that they're really happy to have us here to save them a trip."
According to the Armstrong brothers, theirs is the nearest shipping outlet outside of Plattsburgh and Lake Placid.
"That's a really long distance for people from Keeseville, Peru, and places south of here to come," said Jim. "Willsboro, Essex, AuSable Forks, or Wilmington; those are all places where it's closer to go here than anywhere else."
Authorized by FedEx, UPS, and USPS to ship, BizBox offers their customers a wide range of options when it comes to shipping, whether it be local, national, or international.
"A lot of people didn't realize that we had U.S. Postal Service here," said George, noting how they belong to the USPS approved shipper program. "We're just like taking something to the post office; you just pay a retail price for it."
Customers at BizBox will find a unique shipping kiosk where they can enter the weight and dimensions of their package and compare shipping rates.
"That's one of our strengths," said George. "We can go out for that customer across companies and come back with a quote with the cheapest way to ship it."
That ability to shop around can save customers an average of roughly $1 per package, said Jim.
During their first year, BizBox has added the ability to ship using small freight. They also plan to add a courier service in the coming months.
Not only will they coordinate shipping, but BizBox has everything one might need to package their items. Customers can use the large do-it-yourself packing station or the full-service, professional packing of BizBox's staff.
A full line of packing materials is available for purchase, including gift wrap and bows for the holidays. A wide selection of greeting cards are available year-round.
"We've also added a much larger box selection," said Jim, noting that they can even arrange to ship perishable goods that need to be stored in coolers. "We can pretty much ship just about anything."
Even with the holidays around the corner, George and Jim said there's still time to ship your gifts. Most ground delivery is guaranteed for as late as Dec. 19, and overnight shipping is available right up until Dec. 23 for delivery by Christmas day.
"We do see people that last week come in that pay the extra cost to get it there by Christmas," said George. "People can come in and ship right up until 5 p.m. on that last day."
In addition to shipping services, BizBox offers several business services, including copying, faxing, and even binding. BizBox is equipped to print business cards, brochures, and a host of other media. They also offer Web hosting.
Customers can also purchase private mailboxes at BizBox to receive faxes and packages from services that won't deliver to post office boxes, as well as regular mail.
BizBox is normally open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, but they have expanded their hours temporarily for the holiday season. Until Dec. 23, they will be open 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Call Arbro BizBox at 834-1117 for more information.
