The Town of Shoreham is set to celebrate its 250th anniversary Seot. 2-3. The celebration will include lawn tractor pulls, food, face-painting, tag sale, Selectboard Dinner, photography contest, and auction, street dance, classic cars, pre-festival Texas Hold'Em poker, parade, a visit from the schooner Lois McCLure,and tons more. Fireworks at dusk.
No townwide sales this year, instead there will be a tag sale at the Shoreham Firehouse. The popular cemetery tour, under the auspices of the Historical Society, will highlight people and events over our 250 years.
Friday, Sept. 2, 4-8 p.m.—Items for the Tag Sale can be dropped off at the Firehouse. No electronics, appliances or furniture.
Friday, Sept. 2, 6 p.m.—Texas Hold 'Em is back again. Sign-in starts at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 3 Festival Venues
Many events will be held at the Congregational Church including breakfast and the Selectboard Dinner.
The "Lois McClure"—A special event is a scheduled visit by the schooner "Lois McClure". The ship is a full-scale replica of an 1862-class sailing canal boat; it will drop anchor at Larabee's Point.
Wilkson MacIntire Tennis Courts—Tennis almost all day, from a beginners' intro at 8:30, through the Round-Robin Fun Tournament.
Townwide photo contest entries will be available for viewing and bidding, LEGO building, and the Tag Sale will be at the Firehouse. Facepainting on the midway, along with garden-tractor pulls and more.
Story-time for youngsters, at the Shoreham Library, at 11 a.m., and used book sale.
Village Green—bring a chair and enjoy the best fireworks. The show staring at dusk.
Unless otherwise indicated, all money collected during the day at the various town events pays for the fireworks.
The Shoreham Congregational Church is the food site again this year, starting with breakfast at 8 a.m. Homemade Apple Pie Sale, 8 a.m.-noon.
The Burger Buggy will be on duty, starting at noon, serving great hamburgers, fries, hot dogs, and more during the day.
The Selectboard Dinner is at 5 p.m. at the church. A traditional community pot-luck featuring slow-cooked beef and home-made side-dishes. Take-away available. All proceeds go to the Shoreham Fireworks Fund.
