A Saranac Lake man is in county jail following an investigation into a rape complaint by village police.
Officers arrested 25-year-old Aaron W. Gilman at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday and charged him with two counts of second-degree rape and one count of second-degree criminal sexual act, both class-D felonies.
He also faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child, a class-A misdemeanor, and third-degree attempted assault, a class-B misdemeanor.
Police Chief Bruce Nason said in a news release that Gilman was arrested on a warrant issued by Saranac Lake Village Court following an investigation into a “rape complaint.”
Nason says Gilman allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a female under the age of 15.
Additionally, Gilman is alleged to have attempted to hurt another individual by head butting them.
Gilman was processed at the police station and arraigned in village court, where he was remanded to Franklin County Jail without bail.
