MINERVA - On Saturday, Jan. 31 the hill behind Sporty's Iron Duke Saloon in Minerva will be alive with the sounds of snowmobiles, the aroma of sausage and peppers, and the voices of a large crowd of spectators and participants, all gathered to attend snowmobile drag races sponsored and organized by the Minerva Snow Travelers.
The Snow Travelers have scheduled 16 different races for stock and modified sleds as well as for 120 CC snowmobiles for kids. Racers from around New York State, some with highly modified sleds, will be competing on that day.
The Snow Travelers will be offering up hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage & peppers, French fries, and soda pop at reasonable prices. Other beverages will be available within Sporty's fine establishment.
Start time for the races is 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The races will continue on into the late afternoon. According to Snow Travelers vice president Jeff Barnett, a number of improvements have been made to the course and the event that will result in a great day for all who come out for these exciting races.
