ESSEX JUNCTION - The annual Yankee Sportsman's Classic Show will be held Jan 16-18 at the Expo Center in Essex Junction. The Yankee Sportsman's Classic is a three day, 100,000 square foot event that brings together sportsmen, women and their families from all over Vermont, New York and New Hampshire to celebrate hunting, fishing, wildlife, and the great outdoors.
During this long weekend, you can attend seminars, check out the latest gear, take advantage of show specials, talk with wildlife and fisheries experts, and book your next hunting or fishing adventure. The kids can catch a fish in the catch and release trout pond, take part in the kids archery or BB gun shoot, and visit the live animal displays. With nearly 175 exhibitors, there is something for everyone in your family.
Special features include the Rainforest Reptile Show, the NRA Whitetail Collection and the Vermont Big Game Trophy Club display a 90 feet wall of Vermont taken trophies. Have your rack officially scored, enter the NWTF turkey calling competition, learn to fly-fish, or demo equipment at the indoor fly casting pond. Roots Vermont will be teaching wilderness survival and primitive hunting techniques and you can brush up on your game cooking skills with Chef Jimmy Kennedy.
With over 45 free seminars, you'll get answers to your questions about fly-fishing, ice-fishing, bass-fishing, deer, waterfowl, turkey, bear, elk, and moose hunting and much more.
Rattling, calling, tracking, and the tricks and tactics of whitetail hunting will be presented by nationally acclaimed hunters such as Scott Kirkpatrick with Buffalo County Outfitters, Jim Bissenden with the Joe Shockey Team, and Ken Hammel of Mountain Hollow Game Calls. The Benoits will be there to share their 2008 hunting news and answer your questions about bagging the buck of your life. Expert gun dog trainer Alec Sparks, famed Quaker Boy Turkey caller Joe Judd, and waterfowl hunters Nick Smith, Bradley Carleton and Sylvain Smith will be present.
Bass fishing legends and smallmouth specialists Joe and Steve Lucarelli will show you how to "reel 'em in," Bob Shannon will share his proven fly-fishing tactics and Dave Genz, the Godfather of ice fishing, talks ice fishing done right. Take a free ATV ride or demo the latest Can-Am and Polaris ATVs outside on the one mile course, compliments of the Vermont ATV Sportsman's Association.

With one in five Vermonters taking to the fields and streams and spending $258 million annually hunting and fishing is very important to both the culture and the rural economy, producing 3,500+ jobs. A portion of the proceeds is donated to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta Vermont's home away from home for children who have or have had cancer.
