The Board of Trustees of The Depot Theatre has announced that the theatre is pursuing organizational staffing changes in order to secure a sustainable financial future for the organization.
As part of the changes, both full-time staff positions have been eliminated. A new organizational structure and plan for long term sustainability will be implemented following the completion of the strategic planning process this fall.
Producing professional theatre in a small, rural community, while challenging, provides cultural and economic benefits to the entire region. The Board of Trustees has made this decision in order to secure the Theatre’s future as a vital community resource for audiences and artists alike.
“The Board of Trustees is entrusted with ensuring the financial viability and future sustainability of the organization,” said John Klipper, finance chair and treasurer. “These changes are necessary to stabilize the Theatre’s operations for the future.”
"Recent events have placed extraordinary demands on every member of the board, our interim staff, community partners and volunteers," said Kim Rielly, Board President. "We all have strong personal ties to the Depot, in many cases decades old. The board is committed to honoring the inspiring leadership and creative vision that built this professional theatre, and we are confident that we are taking steps to ensure its long-term viability."
Interim staff and volunteers are assuming day-to-day operations of the organization and a leadership search will be undertaken as part of the ongoing strategic planning process.
The Depot Theatre is grateful to the community for the amount of support being offered during this transition and expects to announce its 36th season early this winter.
