The Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing will award $88,530 in matching funds to 13 chambers of commerce for out-of-state promotional opportunities. The departments matching fund program is intended to help Vermont chambers of commerce initiate or expand marketing programs, events, advertising campaigns and public relations projects that hold significant potential for measurable increases of out-of-state travelers to Vermont. The department will distribute the awards before June 30 in the form of dollar-for-dollar matching funds. Now in its third year, the program requires that funds be invested exclusively in out-of-state marketing for radio, television, magazine or newspaper print, or online advertising specifically designed to encourage out-of-state guests to visit Vermont individually or in groups. This program allows us to work in partnership with chambers of commerce to expand our advertising reach, said Tourism and Marketing Commissioner Bruce Hyde. The 13 chambers of commerce that were selected for funding have very clear, measurable plans to attract out-of-state visitors, and were looking forward to help them promote Vermont. Two Addison-Rutland matching fund recipients were named: Addison County Chamber of Commerce$8,030. Addison Countys project is to visually showcase the mid-Vermont region, its activities, and businesses through four-color co-op advertising in Vermont Life magazine. The ad will display all four seasons and an opportunity to participate in the co-op ad will be offered to all businesses in the region. Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce$5,000. Brandon is marketing the region by featuring their four major assets: recreation, the arts, history, and weddings. The chamber will produce a four-color co-op advertisement for the 2008 Vermont Vacation Guide as well as advertising on WCAX-TV through its Buy Vermont First program.
