LAKE GEORGE - A dramatic come-from-behind victory Saturday kept the Lake George Boys Basketball team's record unblemished with a 64-61 victory over Ticonderoga.
The game boosts the team, now ranked seventh in the state's Class C division, to 8-0 for the season.
It took a balanced, versatile team effort to defeat the tenacious Ticonderoga, which had for three and a half quarters kept the Warriors in an unaccustomed place - losing.
The Ticonderoga Sentinels apparently keyed in on the Warriors' leading offensive threat Nathaniel Miller, who's been averaging more than 17 points per game, shutting down his routine and prompting him to foul out, scoreless.
But the Warrior roster stepped up and racked up points to win the victory and secure their unbeaten record.
The game, the finals of their own Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament, kept the crowd on edge and anxious.
But regardless of the early scoring deficit, Lake George responded to the challenge. They got solid play from center Jake Nelson who played tough on defense, took down 8 rebounds and scored 14 points. Guards Peter Gaibrois and Lucas Freihofer also made impressive contributions.
With Nelson tying up the Sentinels outside, Gaibrois hit six 3-pointers in his game-high shooting of 24 points, while Freihofer sank three 3-point shots, tallying 13 point for his team.
