Patrons of Bobby's Lounge on South Catherine Street in Plattsburgh cheered on their friend, April Cortright, as she did her part for this year's Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-up. Ms. Cortright, pictured with Jerry Marking of the Plattsburgh City Fire Department, was "arrested" and taken to her mock cell at the Comfort Inn Dec. 13. Ms. Cortright raised $500 to support muscular dystrophy research and services for people like six-year-old Andrew Barcomb, whose father Scott works with Ms. Cortright at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora. Andrew has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a disorder characterized by a decrease in muscle mass and loss of muscle function. Ms. Cortright said she had hoped to raise more money for the event, but with the amount of other fundraisers going on this time of year, she appreciated all she could raise.
