PLATTSBURGH - The Tax-Aide Program, a free, volunteer-run tax assistance, preparation and electronic filing service for any low- and middle-income taxpayers, opened Jan. 24 at the Senior Citizen Council of Clinton County Senior Center, 5139, N. Catherine St.
Hours of operation throughout the months of January, February and March are Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointments are taken; the service is walk-ins only.
The site will be closed on President's Day, Monday, Feb. 21.
During the month of April, no Saturday hours will be offered. The last day the site will be open is Friday, April 15.
Tax-Aide, sponsored by AARP Foundation and the Internal Revenue Service, is the nation's largest, free tax preparation service and is staffed entirely by volunteers who must pass an IRS examination to be permitted to assist taxpayers with the filing procedures.
