SYRACUSE - Ten Year Vamp, an Albany-based rock band which regularly plays in Plattsburgh, has been chosen to open for Aerosmith at the New York State Fair.
The band will perform the opening day of the fair, Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Mohegan Sun Grandstand, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
"We've had our fingers crossed for about two months now, hoping to get this show," said Mark Rose, rhythm guitar player and co-founder of Ten Year Vamp. "We had to get approval from a bunch of different people, including Aerosmith themselves to do this. We're extremely thankful to the state and everyone involved for giving us the chance."
In the past two months, Ten Year Vamp has opened for Bon Jovi, The Gin Blossoms, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. In addition, one of their songs was used on MTV's "The Real World New Orleans," and their songs have been licensed by the Adobe Corporation and Dockers Jeans.
Tickets for the show start at $84 and are available through Ticketmaster.
Ten Year Vamp will perform next in Plattsburgh Friday, Sept. 24, and Saturday, Sept. 25, at Olive Ridley's on Court Street. Those shows will begin nightly at 10 p.m.
