The Bellows Falls Union High School baseball team couldn't get the big hit when they needed it, which resulted in a recent, 6-2 home loss to Mill River, at Hadley Field in Westminster.
Senior Ben Hewitt got the start for Bellows Falls, taking the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits over six innings, Jeremy Kilburn pitched the seventh.
After Mill River got three runs in the top of the first, the Terriers came back in the third inning with two of their own but it should have been more.
After back-to-back bunts by Hewitt and Heath Carpentino and a Kilburn walk to load the bases with one out, Brendan Hackett blooped a single to score BF's two runs, but that's all they would get.
In the fourth and fifth innings, the Terriers again had two runners on base but could not get that one big.
Mill River got three more runs in the fifth inning, which would be more than enough for Goyette to get the win.
