I think we can all agree that we have had a real taste of winter the past several days. Weather conditions have reports of a few falls and a couple of accidents due to the cold and slippery conditions. I guess it is weather like this that makes going south very attractive to many locals.
The one positive thing about the weather is looking out at the beautiful white snow covering the world around us; also, the really cold days make us appreciate our nice warm homes all the more.
I stumbled upon a really neat program being offered at our local school recently. It seems that every Friday from 11:30 a.m. to noon Superintendent Steve Broadwell hosts a motivational gathering for any and all interested high school students. I was invited into one of these sessions quite by accident, but was very impressed with its purpose and contents. He has also been hosting some evening programs for any interested person to come listen to area speakers and to stimulate motivation and reach higher with our lives.
This is a great program and hope you keep up the good work. Our country is at the threshold of a most exciting time in our history, with a new president and government representatives. Properly motivated, who knows how far some of our local youth may achieve one day? Men and women can come from all kinds of backgrounds.
Those interested in an evening of excitement might want to check out the next Champlain Valley Film Society movie Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. at the local school. This is reported to be a first-rate thriller of a man tightrope walking between the Twin Towers called "Man On Wire," and should keep you on the edge of your seat.
Not sure if you are aware but we now have a local Web site featuring a community calendar of events, meetings, etc. Log on to www.willsborony.com to check out things you might want to attend. If you have a local event that you would like listed, check with Amy Knickerbocker at Willex.
Birthday Greetings to: Lara Belzile Jan. 23, Chad Strong Jan. 24, Ron Hammel Jan. 25, Marshall Benedict Jan. 27, Steve Bridge Jan. 27, and T.J Sayward Jan. 27.
