Meet Charlestown, NH's Andrew Martell, a 13-year-old race car driver dubbed the "Little Hammer" for his propensity to "put the hammer down" when going after a win.
Influenced from an early age by his racing step brother Bryan Town, Andrew started racing go carts at the age of 7, at Sugar Hill Speedway in Weare, NH.
From there, Andrew moved onto the Sportsman Division of the Twin State Speedway in Claremont, NH, where he would notch a third, second and a first place finish in which he came from dead-last to persevere and take home the checkered flag.
In his young racing career, Andrew has already collected 14 trophies as he now begins racing this summer in the Young Guns Division at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.
Andrew's future racing goals include attending the NASCAR Technical Institute in NC, while he continues to learn and grow as a racer.
His current racing sponsors include Bored Graphics, Three Brothers Sugaring, Norm St. Aubin & Sons Construction, E & W Salvage, Tom's Complete Carpentry and Nick's Towing.
The Martell racing team and pit crew includes grandparents Brad and Gloria Martell, Nathan Martell, Charlie Wheeler, Aaron Putnam, Travis Putnam and John Woodbury. You can also follow Andrew's racing team on Facebook.
