TICONDEROGA The Ticonderoga Community Band will present its annual Tiny Tim Christmas Wish benefit concert Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on Wicker Street in Ti. The Tiny Tim Christmas Wish program provides holiday gifts to needy children in Ticonderoga, Hague and Putnam. The Community Band concert is free, but donations for the Tiny Tim program will be accepted. The Community Band will be under the direction of Heather Olson, Jolene Harrigan, Megan Walls, Pat Cornell and Nelson Shapiro. It features musicians from Ticonderoga, Hague, Silver Bay, Putnam, Crown Point, Port Henry, Westport, Elizabethtown and Queensbury. Besides the Community Band, there will be performances by Ticonderoga High School Sentinel Big Band conducted by Shapiro, the Trebled Voices girls choir conducted by Rachel Ward and the Night Shadows boys choir. Tiny Tim Christmas Wish program officials announced last week they need help. The charitable group is lacking toys and items. The community has been more than generous in previous years, said Helen Gibbs of the Tiny Tim program. Now, we need their help again. Gibbs said this season the program will provide gifts for 126 children in the Ticonderoga Central School District Ticonderoga, Hague and Putnam. Weve had people call from Crown Point and Port Henry wanting help, Gibbs said. I wish we could help them, but we dont have the volunteers or the finances to do it. Items needed this year are Barbie dolls, Bratz dolls, generic baby dolls, hand-held electronic games, board games, crafts for all ages, art supplies, remote-control vehicles, portable CD players, toiletries such as body gel, bubble bath and cologne, hats, mittens, scarfs, large stuffed animals and cash donations. Checks can be made payable to the Tiny Tim Program. The deadline to make a donation is Dec. 12. Donations can be left at the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce office on Montcalm Street or people can call Gibbs at 585-7429 to arrange pick up.
