Emmy Hescock had a goal and two assists to lead the ninth seeded Middlebury Tigers to a 3-1 win over the eighth seeded Stowe Raiders in the opening round of the Division I hockey tournament on Feb. 18, in Stowe. Sara Boudah and Casey O'Donohue added goals in the opening round win and Ashley Howlett made 17 saves in the net for the victorious Tigers.
Unfortunately, for the Tigers that would be their third and final win of the season. Two nights later in Barre, Hayley Arnold scored three goals to lead the top seeded Spaulding Terriers to an easy 9-1 quarterfinal win over the Tigers. Julie Morris and Alicia Laquerre added a pair of goals each for Spaulding who advanced to the semifinals with an impressive 16-2-2 record. Maria Ploof scored the lone Tiger goal, and Howlett made 24 saves for Middlebury who finished the year at 3-19.
