The North Elba Town Council approved a five-year, $300,000 bond for equipment purchases Tuesday.
With a projected 2.9 percent interest rate, Supervisor Roby Politi said the cash will be used for a new town plow truck and several pricey pieces of equipment for the Craig Wood Golf Course.
"It's necessary for us to spend the money in order to maintain an important community asset," Politi said.
Officials said some of the specialized mowing and trimming equipment at Craig Wood is over 20-years-old and beginning to seriously nickel-and-dime the town.
Last year alone, maintenance on the aging equipment cost the town roughly $39,000.
After running in the red for years, Craig Wood has become a break-even venture for North Elba.
