A town hall meeting on underage drinking prevention has been planned by The Collaborative on Thursday, April 29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at MEMS. The focus will be on the value of parents' discussing the issue with their children.
Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration reports that children and teens are less likely to abuse alcohol if parents are involved in their children's lives, make and enforce clear rules, and are positive role models.
The panelists will be Dan French, Superintendent of Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union; Linda Mitchell, Guidance Counselor at the Dorset School; Steve Waldo, Educator for the VT Department of Liquor Control and Sergeant Mike Marvin from the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury barracks.
