Benefit dinner for 'Hair Bear'
A fundraiser for Brian "Hair Bear" Keith will be held the afternoon of April 30 at the V.F.W. Post 4821 at 3754 Main St. in Warrensburg. Although the event starts at noon, a spaghetti dinner will be served at 4 p.m., and donations of $10 will be collected. Music will be provided by After FX deejay. A 50-50 auction is planned for the event.
The proceeds of the benefit will go to Keith to help offset debt accumulated from his recent heart attack and stroke.
Keith, a former employee of Hometown Oil, has for many years provided attentive service and helped hundreds of others out in times of need, area residents have noted. All are welcome to come out to give Keith a boost in return, they said this week.

Nemec - gone but not forgotten
Just one year ago, on April 28, community pillar George R. Nemec passed away. George was known for his ardent support of so many community efforts, and his heartfelt generosity, as well as his good humor. So many people in town think of the many hours he dedicated to Warrensburg - as a fireman, through the Chamber of Commerce, or helping out families in need. Also, George helped build a business that is a landmark in town. Our sympathies go out to his wife, Nancy Nemec, son Chris, and other family members.
