TICONDEROGA - A century-old family tradition has continued.
Brayden Matthew Bowers, son of Matthew and Sara (Salstead) Bowers, was baptized at St. Francis of Assisi church in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday Jan. 30.
Brayden was the first of the fifth generation to be baptized in a 113-year-old gown made by his great-great-great grandmother Amanda Tardiff Joliquer for her own daughter and son.
The gown, made with a matching slip, is slowly showing its age, most noticeably within the sleeve area.
Brayden continued the Joliquer and Poulin family tradition and became the 46th member of the family to wear this family heirloom at Baptism.
Present at the christening were his grandparents, Paul and Debbie Salstead of Ticonderoga; Nicole Condon, his aunt from Hong Kong; Steven and Aimee Rockhill, his godparents, as well as his aunt and uncle, and his parents.
