LONGLAKE- As the Boys Scouts of America celebrated their 100th anniversary last year, Troop 75 of Long Lake is celebrating an equally impressive history.
The troop found its beginning in the 1960s and 70s and has been welcoming local boys to its charter ever since.
They are led by Scoutmaster Dr. Russell Rider and his wife Maxine.
Troop 75 is in the perfect location for outdoor adventure and is in the prime position for many scouts to earn their merit badges right in their own backyards, according to Russell.
Having a traditional Boy Scout camp within the town lines also gives Long Lake scouts exposure to roughly 45 merit badge offerings that include archery, medicine, golf, rifle shooting, pioneering, photography, swimming and much more.
