On March 27, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Fair Haven Police Officer Todd Prevost attempted to stop a motor vehicle for driving erratically on U.S. Route 4 eastbound near exit 2 in Fair Haven. The vehicle which was a 1994 Chevrolet truck failed to stop.
The Vermont State Police along with Castleton Police and Rutland Police assisted in the pursuit.
The vehicle traveled onto the Exit 6 off ramp where the Vermont State Police deployed spike strips at the stop sign. The vehicle's passenger front and rear tires were deflated. The vehicle came to a stop in the soft shoulder of the West Rutland "jug handle".
The male operator, Adam Brouillard, age 39, of Bridport, was taken into custody. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Brouillard was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and was arrested for DUI by the Fair Haven Police Department.
Brouillard was also wanted for questioning by the Vermont State Police (New Haven Barracks) for an alleged domestic assault that occurred earlier in the night in Bridport.
