David E. Morine will be the guest speaker at the Friends of the Springfield Town Library Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
Morine is the author of the book "Two Coots in a Canoe", the story of two retired men who take a month to canoe the Connecticut River but instead of camping they decide to "...rely on the kindness of strangers."
It was a journey of whim, humor and self-discovery for the author and his fellow canoeist, Ramsay Peard.
Staying with a different family every night, they delved into such issues as farming, manufacturing, gay rights and Wal-Mart versus Main Street from the Northeast Kingdom to the Long Island Sound.
The public is welcome and refreshments will be served.
